Live Well Corner: Good Posture and Maintaining Bone Health

I’m a sloucher. There, the secret’s out. Well, I’m not a lazy or incompetent person as defined by Webster’s, but I don’t always sit the best way. My mom was always telling me to sit up straighter and not slouch. I’m glad she kept reminding me because at least I don’t have back problems, but I still am prone to slouching when I sit.

Check out this article on Ten Ways to Have Great Posture as you Age.

According to Anne Harding, “Good posture will do more to keep you looking youthful as the years go by than a face-lift or Botox. And the benefits of maintaining your bone health are much more than skin-deep.”

Wow, what a statement and it definitely got my attention. I am trying my best to sit straighter and do what I can to maintain good posture. There are ways to prevent “the characteristic rounding of the spine,” which is associated with osteoporosis and destruction of your spine. So, with this knowledge, doesn’t that make you want to find out more and maintain better posture? It surely does that for me. Check out the article I mentioned for some great health tips on this issue.

“Recognize that you are a product of nature and that your every existence depends upon other products of nature.” Dr. Forrest C. Shaklee, founder of Shaklee, made this statement and his words are so true.

I believe in Creationism, that God created us in His image. However, even if you didn’t believe in God, it’s not much of a stretch for you to believe that you are a “product of nature.”

“Look to your health and if you have it, praise God and value it next to conscience; for health is a blessing money can't buy.” Izaak Walton made this statement and I couldn’t agree more.

After all, our posture and our total body health is our life. If we don’t have good health or are terminally ill, our future is bleak and we won’t be alive for much longer. We are a spirit, we have a soul and we live in a body. Our bodies start to degenerate and age once we turn twenty years old. What do you think happens if you don’t take care of your body by eating healthy foods, exercising and alleviating stress from your life? That question can be answered by checking out the Shaklee health and wellness products.

If we don’t take care of our bodies, our bodies won’t take care of us. Maintaining a healthy posture and good bone health is a simple way to take care of our bodies. It’s that simple. In a nutshell, we don’t get enough necessary nutrients from our daily diets, even if we do eat healthy and organic foods each day. We also need to start exercising daily or at least three times a week. Even if we walk about an hour a day during our daily routines, that definitely will help us. We also need to do what is necessary to keep our stress levels at a minimum. We also need to walk straight and tall and sit straight so that we maintain good posture.

Shaklee offers awesome healthy nutrition and healthy weight loss products.

Jim Rohn has said, “Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.” No truer words have ever been spoken.

Wayne Dyer has also said, “You can set yourself up to be sick, or you can choose to stay well.”

That’s one of the main points! It’s our choice if we want to be sick or stay well. True, things happen to our bodies which we don’t have control over and some diseases are hereditary. However, science has taught us that prevention is the best medicine. If we make healthy choices today, those choices will positively impact our future. If we make negative choices, those choices will negatively impact our lives.

Eubie Blake has said, “If I’d known I was going to live this long, I’d have taken better care of myself.”

What about you? Are you taking care of your bone health and maintaining good posture?
