Live Well Corner: Did You Know That Emotions Can Be Deadly?

Did You Know That Emotions Can Be Deadly?

By Joanne Troppello

I’m in the process of reading an excellent book, Deadly Emotions, by Don Colbert, M.D. This book correlates the relationship between emotions and diseases. There is a strong connection between our mind, body, and soul. According to Dr. Colbert, that “connection can heal or destroy you.” That is such a powerful reality that we don’t usually think about in our daily lives.

I’ve read the first two chapters and am finding the content extremely helpful. I learned some interesting facts about how my emotions “become” how I feel in my body and that negative emotions can truly harm me physically. I am excited to finish reading this book. I love learning new things; especially educational information that can help me become a more fulfilled individual body, soul, and spirit.

About the Book Deadly Emotions

Did you know that negative emotions can adversely affect your health? Depression, anger, guilt, condemnation, low self-esteem—these are only a few of the lethal toxins that threaten body and spirit.

Offering a clear definition of deadly emotions—what they are, where they come from, how they manifest themselves, and their effects on the body—Dr. Colbert uses scientific evidence to support his views. He further offers hope in the form of God's power to deliver readers from these toxins, focusing on the power of forgiveness and repentance, the value of a merry heart, and the joy of the Lord. Finally, Dr. Colbert shares insights on the role nutrition plays in removing the physical toxins that inhibit true health.
