Kid’s Corner: Dancing with Doodle

Dancing with Doodle

By Linda Suit

Hi kids! In case you haven't met me yet, a little history on how I came to live with Mommy and Jerry Boy.

I was little, lost, and alone. I couldn't find my Mommy anywhere and I was very scared. Oh look, here comes someone! He came close and I peeked over some bushes. I decided I really needed him as a friend, so I was brave and climbed on his glove. Boy was he surprised! He talked to me but then he left, so I hid in the bushes again. I was so afraid. Please let him come back. Yes, there he is! I was glad to see him cause I was really worried since it was getting late and I was hungry. He sat down, played, and talked with me. I tried to tell him he was nice but I really needed a Mommy. Oh no, he's leaving again. What am I going to do? I don't know how to take care of myself. Yes! Here he comes with a lady. I hope she's nice and wants me as much I as need her. I will do my best to convince her. I'll be good.

I ran from behind a tree and before she knew it I was on her shoulder. Hi! Then I kissed her neck and sat on her head. She was really surprised I didn't bite her. We played for a bit but then she put me down and they walked away. No, please, you can't leave me, I'm all alone, I need you to be my Mommy! She looked kind of sad but kept walking so I followed them. I was not taking no for an answer.

I ran up her leg, into her arms and wouldn't let go. She looked at the nice man, then down at me and said, "Ok, Spunky, you can come home with us."

Fast forward to one of my favorite stories...Big uh oh. Mommy was in her office and Jerry Boy came in and asked where I was. She said I was in my house. Umm, the door is open and I'm not there. Shh, is that music coming from the guest room?

That's where Mommy keeps her Disney beanie collection, all arranged by character, movie, season, etc. BUSTED! You know I have a vivid imagination, right?

Well, just imagine Mickey, Minnie, Tigger, Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, and all the rest of the Disney gang, jumping, dancing, singing with me! All over the guest room, all over the guest bed, a lot of romping we did. It was soooo much fun! Mommy had all of them categorized by movie, characters, etc. but I fixed that. You're welcome, Mommy. I didn't eat the tags though and I didn't chew off any ears, so we're good, huh? Honest, Mommy, it was like a Disney animated movie, they all came to life and started dancing and jumping around so I joined in. Not my fault, right? That's my story and and I'm sticking to it! Hey, how did you ever find me anyway among all those critters? Well, at least I'm not in too much trouble (as long as Mommy doesn't look too closely at the beanie guys). So, sit back, close your eyes, picture me running around dancing and singing with all of these amazing critters! Sing along if you like! "It's a small world after all..."

Now the question...how did I get out of my house? Magic of course, and I'm not revealing my secret. Now Mommy will have a huge chore putting everybody back where they are supposed to be. So, when she let me back out after dinner, I was so cuddly, giving snuggles and kisses, maybe she'll forget I just happened to be in there when they came to life, huh?

Later, I was still feeling frisky so I started wrestling with the sticks in the bottom of my Happy-tat, jumping up and down on them, rolling around; I even flipped over into my bowl full of food. Oopsie; ah well, Mommy will give me more. I hid under my towel & jumped out. I can't say "boo" but Mommy got the idea. Where's Spunky? There she is! Awww, I'm soooo sweet, huh?

I know all my new buddies in Kids Corner will enjoy singing, dancing and playing with Spunky Doodle. Join me in Spunky Tales the second Saturday in each month! In July you might just get to hear me sing! Betcha don't know what it sounds like to hear a squirrel sing, so come visit me in Doodleville!
