Columnist Spotlight: Linda Suit

Columnist Spotlight: Linda Suit

What was the inspiration for your latest book?

A mission trip deep into the Amazon jungle, an unknown, forbidden world, had a vast impact on my life. This story will be included in “Seasons of Light” to be published this fall.

Why did you decide to become an author?

My writing came later in life when I started sharing short stories, mostly based on personal experiences. Some inspirational, some inspired by a sassy, personable squirrel named Spunky Doodle, who literally jumped into our arms.

What is your favorite aspect of writing?

I just seem to know when it's right for my stories to be put into words. They seem to come straight from my heart to my fingers. Some journeys are more profound than others and it takes my mind some time to process before putting on paper.

What was our favorite interaction with a reader?

A blind friend once told me when she read my stories she could actually see what I was describing. That is high praise in my book. Also a dear lady, housebound for several years, said my Spunky stories were the only bright spot in her day. The last week she was alive she and her granddaughter spent many hours re-reading Spunky's antics, laughing and enjoying what little time she had left. Those two things make my heart glad. If I can instill laughter, inspiration, and hope, then I have achieved my goal. That's my measure of success.
