Words have power. They can inspire you or hold you back from reaching your full potential. Words can hurt or heal. “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” That verse is found in Proverbs 18:21.

We have the power to encourage others or discourage them with our words. Proverbs 15:4 says that “the soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.”

Are you speaking positive words over your life each day? Are you encouraging others? It doesn’t take much effort to be nice to yourself and others with your words.


Proverbs 15:28 says that “the heart of the righteous weighs its answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil.” We need to weigh the words that proceed from our mouth—whether we are trying to motivate ourselves or speaking to others. We can apply this idea to our interactions with others online; especially in social media. Weigh our words and think before tweeting. There is so much hate and divisiveness in the world today; especially in social media.

I created a blackboard animation depicting 10 Daily Confessions that you should live by. Our life has meaning, and we need to speak that truth to ourselves every day. It is important to take responsibility for our behavior. Confess daily that you are going to take responsibility for your life.

Life is not perfect. We have problems, but also great moments. Confess each day that you will accept the reality that is your life. Sure, you want to move forward from bad situations. However, you can’t live with your head in the clouds and avoid the harsh realities in life.
