Hacking Life: Veterans Day

Veterans Day

by Melodie Haas

As a Veteran myself, being thanked is always overwhelming. I did not join the Air Force to be thanked or get free food from a restaurant. It is fantastic that many restaurants and stores will offer a discount to Veterans on Nov 11th every year. I suggest Veterans check to make sure the discount is for this year. Also, a reminder to Veterans that Veterans Day is on Sunday this year.

Some veterans do not know there are free items for them. So, if you know someone who served their country tell them to get their free food! They just need to show a retired military ID or a DD214. I know someone who keeps a copy of his DD214 in his glovebox so he will not forget it.

I do know Home Depot and Lowes gives Veterans 10 percent off their purchase which happens year round. Lowes even does this for online purchases. Home Depot does not, but it is still a nice discount. I use my retired ID every time I go shopping at those two stores. Lowes is a little easier to use the ID even if it is on a special sale. Home Depot does not but like I said above I am thankful they even give us anything.

This year Target sent out a 10% off that can be used one time through November 12th. It can be used online or in the store. I used it online today for an instore pickup. It was so easy – thanks Target!

Target Veteran

Another great source I found was the spruce.com. Here is a link for 74 veteran day meals for vets, but like I said I’d call to verify before you go.
