Use the Hashtag #CCOTOnFire to Connect with Other Christians

by Joanne Troppello

Lately whenever you turn on the news or scroll through your newsfeed on social media, all you hear or read is bad news and a lot of negativity. I am on social media often during the day due to my work as a freelance content writer and publisher of this magazine. I need to promote myself as a writer, author, blogger, and magazine owner.

However, that time spent online has gotten me down in recent weeks. So, I decided to do something positive. I recently registered the hashtag #CCOTOnFire with Twubs.

This hashtag will be a way for other conservative Christians to share prayer requests, so people can pray for them and encourage them through difficult times they’re going through.

People can use this hashtag to share encouraging words to motivate others to keep going even when they are drowning in difficulties. It will let people know that there are others out there who feel the same way, have gone through the same thing, or are currently going through something—and just want to put some positive energy out there.

This hashtag can be used to quote Bible verses that will encourage others to know that God is with them and His grace is sufficient even when we are weak and tired and don’t feel like we can go on another day.

I created this hashtag, so people can share inspiring stories with others. Maybe there is a news story about something good that happened, and you want to share it. Please use this hashtag so we can all follow your postings online, whether you’re on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, or Instagram.

By using this hashtag, it will be easy for people to search it out online and hopefully begin to see a long listing of tweets—other than my own 😊—and posts that can encourage others. I posted about this tweet on twitter on November 18th and have already received several likes and retweets, and over 2,377 impressions—of people who saw the tweet.

We can use this hashtag to spread some positivity online. I hope you will partner with me to use it to encourage others and get encouraged.

I encourage you to do your part in your own circle of family, friends, and those you come in contact with each day, to be the light than can positively affect them. Respond and don’t react. Make a serious effort to be a positive rather than negative force in all of your interactions with people, whether online or in person.

We can do our small part to impact our world. If every person decides to make a difference in the world, we can make positive changes. I’d love to hear what you have been doing to make a positive impact in your life and those that you touch each day.

Have you been getting discouraged with the news each day? Are your interactions on social media getting you down? Take courage and keep believing that there is still some good in our world today. There are good people. We just need to get more connected with each other, so we can encourage one another and spread kindness and love in the world.
