LaMar will be sharing with us. Also, mark your calendars for Monday, May 20th when the author will be back to share a guest post with us. Let’s find out more about the book.

About the Book

With over 100 poems about everything from flapping ears to dancing pizzas, J.R. LaMar’s, I Saw a Starburst to Flames will take you on an out-of-this-world reading adventure.

With instant classics like “My Father Is the President,” “I Am a Young Ventriloquist,” and “My Eyes Popped out of My Head” to funny re-imaginings such as “The Tortoise and The Hare,” this collection of loony works will leave you wishing there were more.

About the Author

J.R. LaMar is a 26-year-old American children's poet who lives in Coos Bay, Oregon with his wife Chelsea and their three girls Arya, Chloe, and Hazel. He is a stay at home father and a full-time student with the hopes of becoming a teacher. His wife Chelsea works with disadvantaged children and together with J.R., they are co-leaders of their church youth group.

Falling in love with children's poetry at a young age by reading the works of Jack Prelutsky and Shel Silverstein, he hopes that his children will one day find the same joy reading his work as he did the others. They thank God each day for the opportunities they've been given.

Eve’s Book Review

A fun read for children and its poetry! This is an extraordinary introduction as children begin their love affair with poetry. The material in this book is fresh, engaging, and mind stretching for the readers. Great for giggles, cuddles, and bedtime reading. I think you’ll like this book. I do.

About the Reviewer

Story-telling is as much a part of me as breathing is to my body. I have found that as I tell stories, putting them on paper, it makes room for the other stories that are building and will need to be told soon. I write for children because of their wonderful imaginations they are the very best at believing that the probable can become possible. Nothing is any better than when the reader climbs into the adventure and joins the journey with you.

My hubby and I were missionaries in the 70’s and 80’s raising money for Bibles, New Testaments, Book of John, paper, ink and helped set up a couple of print shops in churches. We traveled with our 2 small boys with our base here in Texas. With our family grown and grand-children galore, we live in west-central Texas with a barn full of critters enjoying the country life.
