Getting Inspiration from Famous Authors

I love to write. I have been writing since I was a little kid. Starting with my journal. Then when I began writing my first book as a student in high school. I didn’t get that book published until years—of course, after many revisions too!

I believe my love for writing started because I loved to read as a child and then that love for reading continued. I enjoyed the Nancy Drew series and that sparked my love for mysteries. I am currently working on edits for my work in progress (WIP). It’s a murder mystery set in a fictional town on the real island of Martha’s Vineyard. My family vacationed their several times when I was a child and then a teenager.

For my column today, I wanted to take a break from editing my book and working on my copywriting projects to share some inspiration from famous authors that have inspired me. I hope you enjoy.

Some of My Favorite Quotes from Famous Authors

C. S. Lewis ~ “You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me.”

I love this quote because I really relate to the sentiments behind it. First of all, I am a big tea drinker and I love to read. Just add a warm blanket and I’ll be all set.


Jane Austen ~ “It sometimes happens that a woman is handsomer at twenty-nine than she was ten years before.”

I like this one! It’s true, just like wine, we get better with age.


J.R.R. Tolkien ~ “It’s a job that’s never started that takes the longest to finish.”

So true, since I’m a big procrastinator. If I never begin, I’ll never finish.


Helen Keller ~ “When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.”

I truly believe that when one door closes, God always opens another door. This quote is so true…many times we are looking at the loss in life and not seeing the beauty of what God is bringing to our lives.
