5 Verses to Memorize & Recite – Loneliness
When You Feel Lost and Alone and Need God’s Comfort
by J.M. Troppello
I’ve known the feeling of being lost and alone and needing God’s comfort. Have you ever known that feeling? It’s not a fun place to be. Yet, it’s normal that you go through cycles of life—feeling all kinds of emotions.
However, it’s crucial that you don’t allow yourself to wallow in those negative feelings too long. When you feel alone, my suggestion is that you go to your prayer closet and pray. Commune with God. He is your loving Father. Read the Bible. Spend time in praise and worship.
The following five verses to memorize and recite can be helpful when you feel lost and alone and need God’s comfort.
1. God Will Not Forsake You
When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take care of me. (Psalm 27:10, NKJV)
When it seems like everyone else has forgotten you and you are all alone, remember that God will never forsake you. He is with you and wants to be your comfort and guiding light.
2. God is Your Father
For the Lord will not forsake His people, for His great name’s sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make you His people. (I Samuel 12:22, NKJV)
I did not have the best role model in my father. Yet, I know that God is my Father. He has protected me and provided for me through the years. He is faithful. He will do the same for you. Trust in Him.
3. God Will Show You Mercy
Turn Yourself to me, and have mercy on me, for I am desolate and afflicted. (Psalm 25:16, NKJV)
God wants to be the grace, strength, and peace that you need to get you through each day in life. Know that when you turn to God and trust in Him, He will be there for you.
4. God is Always with You
“Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. (Matthew 28:20, NKJV)
I’ve always loved this verse. It’s at the end of the Great Commission when Jesus gave the call to His disciples to go out to all the earth to reach those who are lost. Yet, that last statement has always been powerful and special to me. Jesus said He would always be with you and me. Take comfort in that.
5. God is for You
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31, NKJV)
This is another passage of scripture that I love (Romans 8:31-38). In the NKJV, it’s entitled, God’s Everlasting Love. God is for you. Trust in that fact. His love is everlasting. He is faithful. Take heart and don’t be afraid. He will be your comfort through the good times, bad times, and the in-between times.
Trust that God is Faithful
I will continue to share that memorizing and reciting scripture is a central factor in growing in the Lord.
If you’ve been feeling lost and alone and need to feel the comfort of the Lord, memorize these five verses. Recite them to yourself as needed. Take that leap of faith and connect with other people in your circle of family, friends, and church members. You may be surprised to see that you’re not the only person who is feeling this way.
