Ten Verses to Memorize and Recite – Worry

When You Need to Stop Worrying and Trust God More

by Joanne Troppello

I used to worry a lot. I worried about everything. My over-analytical brain caused me many problems. As I grew in my walk with the Lord and started to memorize Bible verses, I’ve learned to worry less and trust God more.

As I’ve mentioned in several of my articles, memorizing scripture has been a vital factor in my spiritual growth. When you memorize Bible verses, the Holy Spirit can bring them to your remembrance for various situations where you need to trust God more.

This is the fourth article on Ten Verses to Memorize and Recite. In this series, I’ve shared verses on helping you overcome fear, get restful sleep, have more peace in your life, and experience true joy. If you need to worry less and trust God more, consider memorizing one or all of the following verses.

1. Don’t Worry About Your Life

“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?” – Matthew 6:25 (NKJV)

God is in control. Trust in that simple yet profound truth.

2. Worrying is Useless

“Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?” – Matthew 6:27 (NKJV)

It’s futile to worry. You won’t solve any problems by worrying.

3. Rest in Each Moment

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” – Matthew 6:34 (NKJV)

Life may be difficult for you right now, yet God wants you to rest in each moment and trust Him to work all things out for your good (Romans 8:28).

4. Go to God in Prayer

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” – Phil. 4:6 (NKJV)

Give your issues over to God. Trust Him once you’ve handed them over.

5. Have Confidence in God

“Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” – I Peter 5:7 (NKJV)

God cares about every aspect of your life. Stay focused on Him.

6. Focus on God’s Kingdom

“Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.” – Luke 12:23 (NKJV)

This world has worries but focus on God’s Kingdom and trust in His plan.

7. Don’t Give in to Depression

“Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad.” – Proverbs 12:25 (NKJV)

Depression can easily take over when you focus on your problems and not on God.

8. God is Your Sustainer

“Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.” – Psalm 55:22 (NKJV)

You can’t stop worrying on your own. Trust the Holy Spirit to help you focus on God.

9. God is Always with You

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’” – Hebrews 13:5 (NKJV)

God is always with you through the power of the Holy Spirit. Trust in the Lord.

10. Renew Your Mind in God’s Word

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” – Romans 12:2 (NKJV)

Don’t conform to this world and their mindset. Focus on God’s Word.

Takeaway

Many problems in life can be faced more easily when you focus on God’s Word and trust that He has a plan for your life. If you worry too much, stop fixating on the problem and concentrate on reading and memorizing the Bible. God is faithful. He will walk with you through it all.
