Making Waves – Lake Manawa Summers Series by Lorna Seilstad

by Joanne Troppello

I was immediately drawn into the story in Making Waves – Lake Manawa Summers Series by Lorna Seilstad. The author's descriptions of the characters and scenery made me feel like I was right there in the story enjoying the summer vacation at the lake with Marguerite and Trip.

I loved reading the parts of the story from the main character, Marguerite's POV. The way she spoke—and as the author exposed her thoughts—really connected with me. I just loved her spunk right away. She really reminded me of my adventurous sister. Many times, while reading, I felt like her maid, Lilly who was always trying to talk sense into Marguerite.

I enjoyed reading about a character like Marguerite who was so flawed. Only recently turned to Christ, she still had issues with lying and praying that God would answer the desires of her heart.

Her maid, Lily was a positive influence on her as was Lily's mother—and the family's cook and housekeeper. This character development resonated with me.

As Christians, we're all "sinners saved by grace" and a work in progress each day. It was nice to see characters who weren’t perfect. They were real and personified struggles that we all go through.

The ending was action packed and kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved how both Marguerite and Trip grew as individuals and in their love for each other by the end of the story.

I highly recommend this book if you enjoy reading great Christian romance novels—because this definitely was one.
