The Tortoise and the Fair: An Aesop's Fable Hardcover by J.R. LaMar
Today at Mustard Seed Sentinel we are spotlighting the traditional children’s storybook, The Tortoise and the Fair: An Aesop’s fable hardcover by J.R. LaMar. He shared with us why he wrote the book.
Why J. R. Wrote the Book
Aside from being a fresh, fast-paced, and colorful version of the classic Tortoise and the Hare tale, my new book The Tortoise and the Fair holds a very special place amid my personal library. As my first traditional children’s storybook, it is distinctive among my personal works but also stands unique among its peers, due to its rhyme scheme and twist ending.
My reason for writing this particular story is because I really wanted to write a story that’s proven to resonate with kids, but I needed something unique as well. To me, the logical solution lay somewhere between the two and culminated in what is now The Tortoise and the Fair.
At the core of this story and my writing in general is always the purpose of creating literature that makes people smile. I think often about how frequently the Bible speaks of joy and it’s for good reason. If people could maximize the joy in their life a great many problems could be solved in this world. If I accomplish nothing else but creating joy with this book, I would consider that to be a success.
About the Book
Come WOLF and come SLOTH, come SNAIL and BEAR,
Come TURTLE and TORTOISE, come RABBIT and HARE,
Come creature with glamour, come creature with flair,
Shout LOUDLY and PROUDLY Hooray, for the fair!
