5 Reasons Why You Should Praise God

Praise Opens Your Heart to God's Glory

by J.M. Troppello

I love to praise God. I always have. It has been such a blessing in my life to worship God for who He is, not because of what He has given me. Maybe you're dealing with some hard times in life and need a reason to praise God. I can relate to that. In the difficult moments, it can be really tough continuing to praise God. Consider the following reasons to praise God each day

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything gives thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (I Thess. 5:16-18)

1. Commanded

God wants His children to praise Him. There are many commands in the Bible for God’s children to praise Him. God knows that turning your eyes to Him can totally change your perspective. All of God’s commands should be obeyed. However, this one command can dramatically change your life in a positive direction when you obey it.

2. Perspective

When I’ve turned my eyes to God in praise and worship, it seriously opened my eyes to the beauty and wonder of God. That simple, yet powerful act of praising God has turned my day around simply because I started to focus on God and not on me and my problems anymore.

3. Home

God inhabits the praises of His people. When you praise God, He is in your midst. Yes, God is always with you. However, there is something so special about truly entering into the presence of God through praise and worship. I have felt God’s presence during my personal praise and worship time and when I’ve praised God with others at church. God's presence is so real, powerful, and special. It's one of the most special blessings in my life.

4. Joyful

Praising and worshipping God will bring joy back into your heart. If you are lacking genuine joy today, be proactive and turn your eyes to Jesus. Spend time being still before the Lord. Listen for His voice speaking to your spirit. Then begin to praise Him for who He is. Thank Him for all He’s done in your life. Joy will be such a beautiful blessing from this time with the Lord.

5. Weapon

Praise is a powerful weapon in this spiritual battle you may find yourself in. Don't be shy about using this weapon. Praise is such a powerful way to battle the enemy—not in your own strength—but through a pure focus on God and His majesty and power.

Praise God and Embrace Joy

It’s your choice whether you praise and worship God or not. Don’t stay stagnated in depression or fear or despair over the difficulties you’re dealing with today.

  • Commanded

  • Perspective

  • Home

  • Joyful

  • Weapon

“Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.” (Hebrews 13:15-16)

God’s given you everything you need to be victorious in this life. He’s given you the gift of salvation. God has provided His Word to guide and direct your path each day. He's also given you the pathway to peace and joy in your life which begins with praising and worshipping Him.
