Faith & Life: 5 Tips on Keeping Your Faith

While Living in this Surreal and Faithless World

God is always in control.


It doesn’t always seem like He is in control—especially with the way the world seems to become more surreal each day. However, it’s important to trust God that He has a plan for your life, and to know that you should focus your eyes on eternity.


Tips to Help You Focus on God in this Crazy World

1. Focus on the 3 Main Factors


As a Christian, my main source of strength and peace each day is my faith in the Lord and the peace and comfort given by the Holy Spirit.


“This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; but you shall meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.” (Joshua 1:8, NKJV)

The main way to stay sane in this insane world is to focus on the 3 main factors of a victorious Christian life:


  • Pray

  • Read the Bible

  • Worship God


You need to pray to God each day. Read, study, and apply God’s Word daily. Spend consistent time in praise and worship to God.


When I focus on God, I have peace through all my personal struggles and that keeps me sane in this insane world. Isaiah 26:3 tells us that God “will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”


It sounds simple, but it is not always easy to stay focused on God when trials come. However, each day is a new day, and moment by moment, I can renew my trust in the Lord.


2. Always Get the Facts


There is an abundance of fake news coming at us from all fronts. It’s hard to know what to trust as the right sources of information like liberal media sources. Even conservative news sources need to be fact-checked.


I consider The Blaze to be a factual online publication that I rely on to provide only the facts and no fake news. I have subscribed to their online TV service Blaze TV since they started and have loved all the information they share. You can be sure that you are only getting the facts and no fake news.


When you’re on social media, diligently research information before blindly sharing or retweeting it. Always do your homework and get your facts straight.

3. Don’t Watch the News All the Time


I work from home and like having noise in the background while I write. I used to have the news on like Fox News Channel. However, that can get depressing. Instead, now I keep the local worship channel on, listen to Blaze TV, HGTV, or the Food Network.


Set limits on the amount of time you watch the news each day. Go several days without watching the news. I highly recommend that you subscribe to Blaze TV since they share the facts but also bring in a lot of humor to help make it easier for people to handle the negative news that happens.


4. Take Time to Destress Daily


Adding stress relievers to your daily routine can be extremely beneficial to you—especially if you want to stay informed on current events and all the insanity that is going on in the world today.


Consider the following ways to relieve stress levels in your life today:


  • Workout – Adding an exercise routine to your day, even if you only exercise 3-5 times a week for 25 minutes a day will benefit your health and relieve stress. Exercise releases endorphins and can help to improve your mood. I use the FitOn app and love it because it offers many free workouts.

  • Essential Oils – Diffuse essential oils like lavender, clove, and patchouli to help relax you. Diffuse oils like citrus fresh, orange, and lemon to boost your mood.

  • Hobby – Start a hobby like crocheting, knitting, needlepoint, crafts, woodworking, painting, drawing, or anything else that interests you. This can take your mind off stressors and help you focus on constructive things.

  • Internet Cleanse – We’re all so connected online these days, which can become very stressful. When you can (some people, like me, need to be online for research work and promotion of my magazine), take an internet-free day.

  • Connection – Spend time with family and friends and actually talk to them. When eating together, make that a phone-free zone. Cherish time together.

  • Educate – Study the Bible. Read self-help books that improve your health and well-being as an emotionally stable adult. Learn something new each day.


Make Positive and Productive Changes in Your Life


You can’t change everything that goes on around you. However, there are some things that you can change in your life. Consider implementing these 4 tips into your daily routine to help you make positive and productive changes in your life.
