Be Still Before God
Fortify Your Spirit
by J.M. Troppello
It takes hard work to be still before God, especially in our world today. You’re likely constantly inundated with emails, texts, DMs, and other online content daily.
Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! (Psalm 46:10, NKJV)
Being truly still before God can help you in so many ways. Consider the following benefits of being still before God and how that can fortify your spirit.
Being still before God can have a calming effect on your body, soul, and spirit. When you stop, take big calming breaths, and reset your mindset, you can fortify your spirit. That’s the most important part of you—your spirit. You are a spirit, you have a soul, and you live in the body. Your spirit should be the guiding force in your life over your soul and body. When you take the time to be still before God, your spirit can communicate with God. That realigns your complete 3-part being.
Taking time each day to be still before God turns your attention to God as your loving Father. You realize how small in stature you are compared to His majestic power. It’s good to step back and simply breathe. That refocuses your 3-part being on the omnipotence, omniscience, and omnipresence of God.
God is in control. He has a plan. Life may seem surreal and crazy, but God still has things handled. Being still before God helps you to see that you don’t have to worry about anything. Give everything over to God and trust Him to make the way for you. He wants to be the rock in your life. You don’t have to carry everything on your shoulders.
When you focus on being still before God, you calm your 3-part being down. That enables you to see more clearly. You can identify who you are and all the areas where you still need work. Use this time of stillness before God as an opportunity to assess yourself as God sees you. He sees you as His child, but He still disciplines those He loves as the need arises.

You need quiet time with God daily if you want to live a victorious life as a Christian. Your spirit needs to be ready and willing to hear from God.
