Don’t Stare Up at the Mountain in Your Life

Look to God and Trust that He Has a Plan for You

by J.M Troppello

Staring up at a mountain in your life can be daunting. Discouragement can easily set in. Soon enough, you’ll start believing that you will never move forward because the mountain is too big. That’s when you need to dig deep inside yourself to find the courage to continue to the valley of your dreams.

For me, faith is the first step to getting to the answer of how to traverse the mountain pass.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1, NKJV)

If I don’t have faith that God is watching out for me and that He has a plan—that His ways are higher than my ways—then I end up traveling the pathway in my own strength. That’s when weariness sets in because I’m trying to do it on my own. I can’t do it on my own. I need God to handle the prayer requests that I pray. I shouldn’t take them back and try to figure out a solution myself.

I love this quote from Dr. Ben Carson:

“Through hard work, perseverance, and a faith in God, you can live your dreams.” – Dr. Ben Carson

Yes, hard work is important if you want to succeed in life. You’ll need the perseverance to help you get through all the difficult times. However, the most important part of his statement is that you need “a faith in God.”

Without faith in God, I don’t know where I’d be. He’s helped me get through so many things in life. He is my peace. God is my constant. He’s everything to me. I can’t do life alone without God.

Prepare for the Unexpected

However, hard work, perseverance, and faith are not the only ingredients needed to trek through that mountain pass. You need good climbing gear, food, and to basically be prepared for the unexpected.

Preparing for the worst scenario to occur in your life can help you be more ready if that actually happens. Yet, most of the fears and insecurities we have are the only thing holding us back at times from accomplishing great things and reaching the summit.

That’s where P.R.W. comes into play.

  1. Prayer each day

  2. Read the Bible

  3. Worship God

Without prayer, I’d be a mess. When I don’t start my day in God’s Word, the rest of my day always seems off balance. When I don’t spend time in worship daily or at least several time during the week, I don’t feel the same closeness to God like when I consistently worship daily.

If you are prepared with your power pack of P.R.W., your trek through the mountain will be easier. Sure, life will always have obstacles. However, when you are walking with God through them, He is your comfort, peace, and strength.
