Faith & Life: God is My Daily Sustenance
5 Important Ways He Sustains Me Daily
by J.M. Troppello
I’ve been a Christian for a long time. I’ve seen God provide over and over again. Provision has not only come in material things or in fulfilling needs. It has also come in the form of comfort, love, grace, and strength each day. This article shares five major ways that God is my daily sustenance.
On days when I don’t pray, praise God, and read the Bible, I’m more drained and stressed out. When I start my day by reading the Bible, praying, and praising God, I have the strength that I need to make it through the day. Praying, praising, and reading the Bible is the spiritual food that I need to eat every day.
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Romans 10:17, NKJV)
God is my source of life in my body, soul, and spirit. He gives me breath each day. Knowing Him, loving Him, and communing with Him gives me the will to keep going daily. This has been especially true with how difficult things have become in our world today. I’m so thankful God is my source of help.
Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is with those who uphold my life. (Psalm 54:4, NKJV)
God supplies all my needs. Those needs may be financial. They might be spiritual. The needs can be emotional. He supplies the needs for my body, soul, and spirit. I praise Him today for being my sustenance each day.
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:19, NKJV)
God has compassion for me each day. He has compassion for the whole world. That’s why He sent His Son, Jesus to die for those who would accept His gift of salvation. As a Christian, I am called to show that same compassion to those around me. It is not always easy. Through the example of Jesus, the command of the Father, and the power of the Holy Spirit, I’m able to love others as He loves me.
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35, NKJV)
The Holy Spirit is my comforter. He is my guide. I’m thankful that the Triune God the Father; Jesus, the Son; and Holy Spirit are with me every day. They will never leave me or forsake me. They won’t forsake you either.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. (John 14:26, NKJV)
I hope you can trust that God can be your daily sustenance as well.
Allow God to be your spiritual food, source, sustenance, compassion, and comfort today. He is waiting for you with open arms.
