God Loves You More than You Realize

Having Confidence in the Love of the Savior, Jesus Christ

by J.M. Troppello

“When you are suffering most God’s eyes are on you and He cares deeply about you.” – Randy Alcorn

I’ve felt God’s presence surrounding me in both the good times and the bad times. Yet, in the times when I’ve suffered the most in life, I’ve truly felt God’s presence more profoundly. That’s likely because in those times of suffering, I sought Him out more intensely.

8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, 9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, 10 but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, 11 to which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher [a]of the Gentiles. 12 For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.

Paul had confidence in his salvation and in Jesus, His Savior. He wrote in verse 12 that I know whom I have believed. He had a strong faith in the Lord. He believed that what he had entrusted – or whom he had believed in – would keep that ‘deposit’ of faith and his reward for being faithful on earth, was in Heaven. Yet, He served the Lord because he loved Him, not because of any reward in Heaven. At the time Paul wrote this passage, he was “preparing for his imminent death, but in spite of this he was hopeful. He had spent his time, resources, and even his life on proclaiming the Gospel, and this investment in Christ’s Kingdom would bring him an abundant reward in eternity.” [Source: TNSB]

God Sent His Son

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. (John 3:16-17, NKJV)

God sent His Son, Jesus to die on the cross for everyone’s sins. He was resurrected from the dead and now ascended to Heaven and sits at the right hand of God. He loves you more than you realize.

You are an Overcomer

4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 5 They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. 6 We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. 7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. 13 By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world. 15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. 17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 19 We love [c]Him because He first loved us. (I John 1:4-19, NKJV)

As a believer, you are a child of God. He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. The love of God has been perfected in His children. You don’t have to fear. There is no fear in love. God has also called you to love others as well.

Do you know how much God loves you?
