My God is Mighty

He Will Never Fail

by J.M. Troppello

The title for Psalm 91 in my Bible is titled: Safety of Abiding in the Presence of God. I love that! There truly is safety when you abide in the presence of God. Notice how in verse 1 it says that the person who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will also abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Living under God’s mighty shadow is the best place to be!

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”
(Psalm 91:1-2, NKJV)

My God is mighty. He will never fail. I love how the Psalmist says that God is his refuge and fortress. He trusts in God. I trust in God as well. I don’t have everything I want, but I have everything I need. I know He will provide for all my needs (Phil. 4:19).

The English author and Anglican clergyman, William Gurnall wrote, “One Almighty is more than many mighties.” Now that is a statement to make! Yet, it’s so true. God is with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deut. 31:6-8).

When the storms of life threaten to shake down your ‘house,’ don’t give in to that fear that can so easily overwhelm you. Trust in God no matter what. I’m preaching to myself here too. I admit that it is easy to forget sometimes that God is the Almighty and He is your help in time of need (Psalm 46:1).

3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. 4 Trust in the Lord forever, For in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength.
(Isa. 26:3-4, NKJV)

Perfect peace is possible when you are kept by God in perfect peace. However, there is one caveat. Your mind must be stayed on God. You need to trust in the Lord. Your strength to make it through as a thriver – and not just a survivor – in life will come from YAH, the Lord.

In Summary

The following things can help you stay focused on God Almighty and not on the storms that threaten to overwhelm you in life.

  • Consistent daily prayer

  • Regular Bible study and application

  • Time spent in praise and worship

  • Confiding in seasoned believers

  • Deciding to trust in the Lord

Just remember that your life as a Christian is a daily journey. One step at a time. When you implement these five steps into your daily walk with the Lord, you can experience that peace that passes all understanding (Phil. 4:6).
