You Are Loved by God

An Invaluable Treasure to Him

by J.M. Troppello

Have you ever felt unloved by God? Have you felt loved by Him?

“Riches take wings, comforts vanish, hope withers away, but love stays with us. Love is God.” – Lew Wallace

You are loved by God. You are an invaluable treasure to Him. Sometimes it may not feel like you are that irreplaceable gem to God, but you are. Always remember that. Consider the following ways that God shows you that you are loved.

1. Salvation

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16, NKJV)

You are a part of that verse. God loves everyone. He doesn’t love sin, but He loves the sinner. He sent His Son, Jesus to earth to die on a cross so that everyone who accepts this gift of salvation can have eternal life with Him in Heaven.

2. Unfailing

How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. (Psalm 36:7, NKJV)

I love this verse from Psalms. God’s lovingkindness is precious. His love will never fail you. It’s one thing that you can count on in this life—that God loves you. Don’t forget that truth in all aspects and times of your life. God is with you and loves you.

3. Comfort

“But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. (John 15:26, NKJV)

The Holy Spirit is your comforter. God loves you so much that He sent His Holy Spirit to be with you to provide comfort and guidance. I have felt this presence so many times in my life as a Christian. It is such a comforting thought, knowing that the Holy Spirit is with me.

4. Discipline

For whom the Lord loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives. (Hebrews 12:6, NKJV)

Just as parents discipline their children, so God disciplines His children. That discipline is not generally a nice experience, but it is vital toward growing in your walk with the Lord.

5. Direction

A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps. (Proverbs 16:9, NKJV)

God loves you and wants to guide your steps. Sure, you have free will. You don’t have to obey God’s direction. I have messed up many times in my life by not following His path. Yet, when you stay in tune with God, He will guide you and help you from going the wrong way.

Show God’s Love

“Here’s the paradox. We can fully embrace God’s love only when we recognize how completely unworthy of it we are.” – Ann Tatlock

Know that you are dearly loved by God. If you haven’t yet accepted His gift of salvation through the death of His Son, Jesus on the cross—please accept Him today. If you are a Christian already, remind yourself daily that God loves you and wants the best for you in your life.

Show God’s love to others each day. Consider the following three verses in the Bible about loving others. Feel free to look up those verses for further clarification. I paraphrased the main idea from each verse.

Ephesians 4:2 – Bear with one another in love.

Peter 4:8 – Love each other deeply.

Romans 12:9 – Love must be sincere.

With God’s help through the power of the Holy Spirit, you and I can love others.
