Finding Peace in the World Today
by Chrissy Kay
Here lately, on a daily basis, I've thought of something a pastor once told me about how pastors greet people in countries where communicable illnesses run rampant.
He told me that they, without shaking hands but with prayer hands, bow their heads and say, “May the Jesus in me, be with the Jesus in you.”
His words repeat in my mind several times a day—maybe as a means to calm my mind when fear begins to creep in, or maybe just as a reminder of how to be gracious without shaking hands.
Either way, it helps me find peace.
The fear that some in the world today are feeling with covid-19 is how some of us with compromised immune systems live on a daily basis.
I know for me personally, I have chosen not to be fearful, but to still prepare. When all of this crisis situation with the corona virus finally settles down, I hope and pray that people continue to sing songs in their head while washing hands. I hope we are all mindful of those individuals around us who might not be able to fight off simple illnesses like a cold.
