When God Speaks

by Chrissy Kay

My family and I attended my nephew’s baptism recently, and afterward, my youngest child and I were talking. She said she was ready to choose to be baptized.

She is the child who always finds a way to be God’s vessel to me; especially when I’m losing my faith. We went over to schedule it, and the lady told us we could do it right now. I said, "no, not today" at the same time my 8-year-old said, "yes.”

Now, I don't normally let my kids have their way, but this was different. I was not about to stand in her way; especially if she felt it so intensely in her heart. It was the last minute and totally unexpected (I believe that is exactly how God works), but today, she made the choice. I am very proud of her.

Later at lunch, we were talking, and my daughter randomly goes, "I heard God say Thank You.” She again caught me off guard.

I looked up at her, and I swear I've never seen her have such a serious face. I asked if she could've heard our pastor, outside of the water, and she said: "No, it was a very soft and gentle voice… like an angel."

I know God speaks to us differently, but wow. I'm still overwhelmed and in awe of this.
