5 Inspirational Quotes That Have Inspired Me
Living Life by Seeking the Silver Linings as Much as You Can
by J.M. Troppello
By nature, I am a positive person. I’ve always chosen to see the good in other people and seek the silver linings in life as much as I can. Sometimes my glass-half-full personality clashes with my husband’s realistic outlook. However, we’ve learned how to balance each other out.
I love inspirational quotes. I use them a lot in my articles. I have inspirational posts in different places around our house to motivate me during those moments when I need an extra push to keep going. I’ve shared five of my favorite inspirational quotes below. I hope they will motivate you as well.
1. See Life with the Eyes of Your Heart
“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart.” – Helen Keller
Of course, this is meant figuratively. Your heart doesn’t have literal eyes. Yet, I love this quote from Helen Keller. It’s so true. If you truly want to embrace life with all that you have, it will begin with having an open heart. That can lead to an open mind. Both of those things can help you interact more maturely with other people that come across your path.
2. Take the Time to Be Nice
“Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.” – Desmond Tutu
It doesn’t take much to be kind to someone else. Simply holding the door for someone or smiling, can brighten their day. However, these last two years have been difficult for everyone. Tensions are high. People are divided. You may need to think outside the box in how you shine your light and show kindness in the world. However, you never know how your simple act of kindness can snowball into something bigger and better—as the cycle of kindness continues.
3. Do Your Best to Be Your Best Self
“The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.” – H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
You have a choice each day with how you respond to what the day sends your way. You can react immaturely to people, places, or things. However, you can also respond maturely to those things. The decision is yours. Do what you can each day to grow and develop as an emotionally mature person. You only get one life to live. Do your best to embrace each moment and take responsibility for your actions.
4. You are Stronger Than You Think You Are
“Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” – Francis of Assisi
Keep an open mind and you can do more than you think you can do. You are stronger than you think you are—and can accomplish great things in life. Focus on growing as an individual daily. Stretch yourself outside your comfort zone and you’ll likely be surprised at what you can accomplish each day.
5. Seek the Sunlight in Your Life
“Keep your face always toward the sunshine – and shadows will fall behind you.” – Walt Whitman
This quote is special to me because it reminds me of the sunflower, which seeks the sunlight. That’s what I try to do each day, seek the sunlight—and silver linings in life. Maybe you are already doing this. However, if you’re not, then I hope you can begin to seek the sunlight in your life in this new year.
