God Will Never Leave You nor Forsake You
Trusting God to Answer Your Prayers and Guide Your Path
by J.M. Troppello
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; (Phil. 4:6, NKJV)
I’m in the online prayer group for our church. Prayer requests are received through the church office. Then our Pastor’s wife sends out an email to all those on the prayer team to pray for those needs.
I believe in the power of prayer.
Some of my prayers have gotten answered. Others haven’t. As I’ve mentioned before, that’s been a good thing many times. However, reading today’s prayer request really touched my heart. Someone from our church had leukemia. She had a bone marrow transplant and was doing much better. However, she recently received a terminal diagnosis. Her leukemia is back. I prayed for her healing today and will continue to pray.
I know that God heals.
Sometimes that healing comes in the form of healing in the natural, physical body here on earth. Our Pastor recently received a diagnosis of cancer. He underwent surgery and treatment. He is now cancer-free. He gave a testimony recently that he’d had no idea that he’d been sick with a mass growing in his body. However, the doctors were amazed that the surgery got all of the mass out and that it hadn’t spread throughout his body – because that is what the prognosis had been.
Originally, he went to a hospital in one region about an hour from his home and there were no open dates for surgery for more than one month. However, one of the relatives of a member of our congregation is a nurse. She had felt led to call her family member (who attends our church) to share that she could probably get our Pastor in for an appointment quickly where she worked (about an hour in the other direction).
God works in mysterious ways!
Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,
(Psalm 103:3, NJKV)
Jesus is our healer!
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.
(Isaiah 53:5, NKJV)
You may be going through some struggles right now. I hope you can see that God wants to be your comfort and strength through all of the hills and valleys that you’re going through.
I know it’s not easy to trust God when you are facing a dire health diagnosis. It’s difficult to keep praying when you don’t see how God can make a way through the impossibilities. Trusting God when you’ve been praying for years and years for the same thing can become disheartening.
I can relate to all of that.
However, I also know that the Holy Spirit is my comforter. God is my grace, peace, and strength that helps me make it through each day. Without God’s help, I don’t know where I’d be. But, I don’t need to worry about that because God will never leave me nor forsake me. He gives the same promise to you in Hebrews 13:5.
Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5, NKJV)
Do you trust that God will never leave you nor forsake you?
