How to Embrace Each Moment

Don’t Stop Living While You Wait

I’ve been focusing more and more on living in the moment. However, sometimes when you’re waiting for the next step to come to pass in your life, it’s easy to ‘stop living’ while you wait.

For a long time, I ‘stopped living’ because I focused too much time and energy on what hadn’t come to pass yet. I failed to see the beauty of embracing each moment.


The last two years have been an interesting journey for me. My mindset has shifted to realize how fragile life is and how much I have, to be grateful for. I don’t have everything I want, but I do have everything I need. In the last two years, I’ve made the decision to NOT stop living while I wait for the next steps to come to pass.


If you need to start embracing each moment while you wait for the next steps to come to pass in your life, consider integrating the following four simple, yet powerful things into your day.


1. Solitude


Your life is likely busy with personal and professional responsibilities each day. Time is an invaluable commodity, and you probably feel like you don’t have a lot of it. However, if you want to embrace each moment, you need to schedule times of solitude into your daily routine.


Yes, this will be more difficult for some people than others. Yet, it’s incredibly helpful when you can spend time alone—even if it’s only 10-15 minutes a day. Use that time for quiet meditation and practicing mindfulness. Do a workout like Pilates, Tabata, cardio, or yoga. Go for a walk around your neighborhood. Spend time alone to rejuvenate your body, soul, and spirit.


2. Forgiveness


Don’t hold on to unforgiveness in your heart. Yes, it’s difficult to forgive others. But if you don’t offer forgiveness, you will only become a prisoner to bitterness and hate.

Learn to embrace each moment and cherish the simple fact that you are still alive. Do you want to waste time on anger and hate, and not forgiving those who hurt or offended you?


I know I don’t want to live like that. I’ve chosen to focus on becoming a better person, not a bitter one. I’ve decided to cherish life and not destroy it through having a negative spirit and mindset. Choose positivity and productivity instead.


3. Grace


Grace is a beautiful thing.


It’s not always easy to offer grace to others. But, when you offer it, that can become life-changing for you and the other person or people involved.


Yes, you don’t want people to take advantage of you. I used to allow people to walk all over me. I had to learn how to set boundaries in my life. However, when you see the value in choosing grace over a spirit of ugliness and mercilessness—you are allowing yourself to be used as a vessel to bring light into the world.


There will be times when you need to offer grace to yourself as well. You and I are not perfect. No one is perfect. Some days you’ll do better than others. On other days, you won’t like yourself or your behavior very much. In those moments, learn to forgive yourself and offer yourself grace. Tomorrow is a new day to do better and be more emotionally mature.


4. Vision


The final piece to this puzzle of embracing each moment is to create and continually maintain a productive and positive vision for your life.

Creating a vision for your life will help you embrace each moment. You’ll have your WHY when you’re facing obstacles. You’ll have your goals etched into your mind when things get tough.


Keep your vision alive.


Don’t Stop Living While You Wait


Make time to embrace solitude each day. Give forgiveness a high priority in your life. Learn to offer yourself and others grace. Seek the right vision for your life and maintain it through all the peaks and valleys.

If you can integrate these four powerful forces in your daily life, it will be easier for you to embrace each moment. Don’t stop living while you wait for the next step to come to pass in your life.
