Don’t Let Anyone or Anything Stop Your Light from Shining

Don’t let anything or anyone stop your light from shining.
I posted that statement today on Twitter and along with the cover photo on Instagram. It’s a sentiment that has been truly resonating with me lately. No matter what happens in my life, I want my light to keep shining.
How to Keep Shining Your Light
“The more light you allow within you the brighter the world you live in will be.” – Shakti Gawain
There is light and beauty in this world. Yet there is also darkness. Consider the following ways that you can keep shining your light each day.
1. Be Kind
It doesn’t take much to be kind to others. When you offer a kind word to someone or hold the door open for them, you can change the trajectory of their day. You may never know how your kindness may impact their life. Yet, being kind will have a positive and productive effect on someone—instead of negatively reacting to them.
2. Be Compassionate
Show love to other people. Take the time to listen and actually hear what other people are saying. Before reacting, try to understand their perspective so that you can respond in a mature and constructive way. Showing your compassion to others is such a powerful way for light to shine in this world.
3. Be True
You are unique. Embrace all of who you are—body, soul, and spirit—as you continue daily on your journey of self-discovery and personal growth. You’re never going to please everyone and that is okay.
There will be people who try to pull you down for various reasons like jealousy, unhappiness, or misery. Don’t allow those people or circumstances to dictate how you respond.
4. Keep Learning
Let your light shine by expanding the knowledge base of your mind. If you want to become a better human and continually shine your light, that starts with having a thirst for knowledge.
Try new things. Learn about different cultures. Connect with people who are different than you. That should not frighten you. In the past, that thought scared me. Now as I get older, I’ve realized that I’m only hurting myself when I think I don’t need to learn anything new anymore.
Don’t make the mistake that I made. I wasted time not stepping outside my comfort zone. I’ve been learning how to be brave and do things that I feared. Be brave today and let your light shine as you focus on soaking up as much knowledge as you can.
Shine Your Light

Stay strong in your convictions. Don’t give in to those who are mean to you. Continue to show love and kindness, even in the midst of darkness. Be true to yourself. Never stop learning something new each day.
