How to Not Give Up on Your Goals

4 Ways to Stay Focused on Accomplishing Goals

Accomplishing your goals is not always easy. I’ve been trying to lose some weight. In the last few weeks, I’ve lost 5 lbs. However, I seemed to have stalled at this point. I started to get a bit frustrated. However, I’m trying to focus on the positive thing that I did lose some weight. I’m headed down the right track.

The following four ways have helped me to stay focused and not to give up on my goals. Maybe they can help you keep your goals as well.


1. Identify


When I’ve been successful in achieving my goals, the first step has always been to clearly identify what I want to achieve. Being unclear about your goals won’t help you accomplish them. If you want to become better at accomplishing your goals, write them down in a list. Be clear and focused. Write down your specifics and why you want to achieve these goals.


2. Plan


It’s great to identify your goals, but you need a plan of action to increase your chances of success. For example, I wrote out my weight loss goals. Then I created my action plan which included the following: going to bed earlier to get more sleep, changing my diet to decrease my portion sizes, giving up carb snacks before bed, including yoga, pilates, and weight training into my weekly routine, and increasing my water intake daily.


3. Act


Acting on your action plan is next. If you don’t take any action, you’ll never accomplish anything. Acting on your action plan can be the most difficult part of your goal journey. It was hard for me to get started on this weight loss journey. I’ve had many starts and stops through the years. However, I recently got sick with the flu and that jumpstarted my desire to get started again – on a serious weight loss journey.


4. Receive


Finally, you need to receive along the journey. Receive those special moments of progress as you step forward in this goal-accomplishing journey. Embrace the positives and negatives in each step forward. Nothing will be perfect. Even small steps forward should be considered progress. Believe me, this is a lesson I need to embrace daily. Accept support from others because it’s better doing life with others, rather than trying to succeed all on your own. As you receive this encouragement from others, give back and become a support to others.

You can become better at accomplishing your goals if you make a concerted effort. Get started by clearly identifying what you want to accomplish. Create an achievable action plan that will set you up for success and not failure. Take a leap of faith and start acting out your action plan. Finally, receive all the blessings along the way of your goal-achieving journey.
