I’m Thankful That God is Still in Control

When the Instacart Shopper Delivered My Order to the Wrong House

by J.M. Troppello

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28, NKJV)

My sister and I had been texting today because there was an issue with her Instacart order being canceled due to the shopper having car trouble after shopping for the order. I had put an order in to be delivered that day as well. The shopper did the shopping. Then she delivered my order to the wrong house. She didn’t respond to my messages via the chat on the app.

I called Instacart directly and spoke to a very helpful customer service representative. Thankfully, he was able to schedule the order for a redelivery at no charge to my account. I admit, I was a bit upset when I was on the phone with the representative. However, I thanked him profusely for helping out and for his patience – and I apologized for being a bit loud. I didn’t have any extra money in our budget to make another $170 purchase. I was also feeling frustrated about what had happened to my sister with her order as well.

God is Still in Control

Thankfully, my sister got her order delivered later in the day. My order was just shopped and is being delivered as I write this article. I have no idea what happened to the groceries that my sister’s shopper shopped for, because the shopped had car trouble and then canceled the order. Did she keep the groceries? They probably couldn’t restock them due to any COVID protocols that might still be in place.

I have no idea where my first shopper delivered my first order to. Did she keep them? Did she honestly make a mistake where she delivered them – even though I had given extremely specific instructions on how to find our house, and even included our coordinates – since our address doesn’t always show up on Google maps.

Regardless of what happened with my first order of groceries, I’m thankful that Instacart honored my explanation of the fact that it was delivered to the wrong house and didn’t charge me again. I hope that whoever received the groceries at the wrong address will be blessed by them.

Hopefully, that person was honest and called Instacart to report that they had received groceries that they hadn’t ordered. Likely, Instacart would’ve told them to keep the order anyway. However, I hope they are blessed by it.

8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.
(Isa. 55:8-9, NKJV)

I know God is still in control. I got frustrated today and that’s normal for what had happened. However, I’m thankful that God took care of the situation and made things right.

Have you ever ordered something that was delivered to the wrong address?
