My Top 10 Favorite Quotes About Tea

Including My Personal Recipe for Allergy Relief Tea

by J.M. Troppello

I’m a tea drinker. I drink a combination tea each day to help with my allergy issues. That includes alfalfa tea, peppermint tea, honey, lemon juice, and apple cider vinegar. I also love drinking herbal teas.

Since many of my articles lately have been on heavier topics, I thought I’d share something on a lighter topic and include some of my favorite quotes on tea.

1. “You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.” – C.S. Lewis

2. “There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea.” – Henry James

3. “Come, let us have some tea and continue to talk about happy things.” – Chaim Potok

4. “Tea should be taken in solitude.” – C.S. Lewis

5. “The daintiness and yet elegance of a chine teacup focuses one to be gentle, to think warmly, and to feel close.” – Carol and Malcolm Cohen

6. “All true tea lovers not only like their tea strong, but like it a little stronger with each year that passes.” – George Orwell

7. “No matter where you are in the world, you are at home when tea is served.” – Earlene Grey

8. “There is something in the nature of tea that leads us into a world of quiet contemplation of life.” – Lin Yutang

9. “There is no problem on earth that can’t be ameliorated by a hot bath and a cup of tea.” – Jasper Fforde

10. “The spirit of the tea beverage is one of peace, comfort, and refinement.” – Arthur Gray

My Recipe for Allergy Relief Tea

Alfalfa has been called the “Father of all Minerals” because it has roots that grow very deep into the soil. It has a bitter taste. I’ve tried it as a cold tea but don’t like the taste. Since it’s very bitter, I add honey. I like peppermint tea and it is also helpful in relieving allergy issues—so I thought, why not combine the two teas. I add some lemon juice and apple cider vinegar since they also help with allergy issues. I drink this tea twice a day. I also take alfalfa supplements and use the neti pot to treat my allergy issues in a natural way.

  • 2 tsp of organic alfalfa tea

  • 2 tsp of organic peppermint tea

  • 1 tbsp of lemon juice

  • 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tsp of honey

Boil water. Add the alfalfa and peppermint tea into a teapot with a strainer or use a strainer ball for two individual 12 oz. teacups. Pour boiling water into teapot. Let the tea steep for 5-10 minutes—depending on how strong you want it. I like the tea strong, so I let it steep for 10 minutes.

Pour tea into the thermos (or into the two teacups). Add the lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, and honey, and then stir it well. Then enjoy.

Note: These ingredients fill a large 24 oz thermos. I make the tea in the early afternoon and drink some. Then I can drink the rest in the early evening. The thermos keeps it nice and hot.

Are you a tea drinker? What’s your favorite kind of tea?
