The Amazon Driver Did it Again!

Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff – That’s for Your Own Sanity

by J.M. Troppello

It happened again. The Amazon driver delivered our packages to the neighbor across the street. It still amazes me how some drivers from Amazon can find our home and yet others can’t get it right—even though we have explicit directions with our GPS location in the instruction box for our Amazon account.

I admit that I got annoyed when this happened again.

My sister lives next door. We live in a duplex. She texted me that our neighbor across the street came over and let her know that she got a bunch of packages that were not hers. When I went outside to bring our trash cans back to our driveway, my sister opened her door and said to wait, and she’d help me get the boxes.

I got snippy with her for a second.

Then I quickly apologized and said I was just mad that this happened again. We got in her car since it was parked in the driveway. Mine was in the garage and it was easier to just use hers. I said that I couldn’t understand how the Amazon drivers always got her packages delivered correctly to her address, but the Amazon drivers couldn’t get our packages delivered correctly to our address. We’re at the same address! Just two separate units.

Seeing the Good Through the Annoyances

Anyway, thank you for suffering through my rantings. I spoke to my husband on the phone as he drove home from work today. I explained what happened. He shared my annoyance with the issue. However, we both were grateful for three things.

  • The packages were all delivered, even if they were delivered across the street.

  • Our neighbor came by to let us know that they were delivered to her house.

  • My sister was able to help me get the packages and bring them to my house.

In the grand scheme of things, this was a small annoyance—and nothing to get extremely upset about. It made me think about other times when I got annoyed about things that really were only small annoyances. I wasted time and emotional bandwidth in the past getting upset over stupid things.

Now, I’m not saying that I won’t get annoyed about things in the future – especially if the Amazon driver strikes again – however, I can honestly say that these times of getting annoyed over little things have gotten less frequent in my life.

I’m grateful to God for helping me do better in this area – both emotionally and spiritually.

14 Do all things without [a]complaining and disputing,[b] (Phil 2:14, NKJV)

Have you experienced times when you’ve gotten annoyed over little things and then looked back and thought that getting frustrated was a waste of your time?
