What God Showed Me This Week When I Had the Flu

God is My Strength and Hope Each Day

by J.M. Troppello

This was a hard week. I was sick with the flu. It hit me hard. I wasn’t able to get any work done. My husband was so supportive this week. He helped me make dinner this week even when working a long 50-hour work week.

God opened my eyes this week. He showed me that I needed to take that step of faith that He’s been encouraging me to take for the last few months. I didn’t believe I could have the willpower to obey what God had been urging me. I finally got the courage to take that step of faith this week. In my weakest moments this week, I truly found that God is indeed my strength.

Strength and honor are her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come. (Proverbs 31:25, NKJV)

I’m grateful that God is my strength. I can rejoice in time to come like the Proverbs 31 Woman because I know that great things are coming my way when I’m open to following God’s plans for my life. I wish I hadn’t wasted so much time being too afraid to take God at His Word—knowing that He would help me be successful in stepping out in faith.

33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you [a]will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33, NKJV)

I’m thankful for God’s peace as I take this new step of faith. I don’t know how everything is going to play out. But I know that God will be with me every step of the way. That definitely is something that gives me comfort.

10 Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Neh. 8:10, NKJV)

As I embark on this new step of faith, I know that God is my strength. His joy will be my comfort through each part of the journey. He’ll give me the courage to keep stepping out in faith as I learn more each day about how to walk in obedience to His guidance in my life.

Have you taken any steps of faith lately?
