Resting in the Sweet Spot
Thankful for God’s Daily Blessings
by Joanne Troppello
“When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around.” – Willie Nelson
When I saw that quote today, I knew I just had to include it with this article. It resonated with me because I agree with that mindset. When you focus on the good things in your life, it’s easier to have a positive perspective—and not focus on all the things you don’t have.
Life is hard sometimes. At other times, it’s easy. Sometimes you’re in that in between stage. Right now, my husband and I are in the in between stage where we’re starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel after a long time in the desert.
Two days in a row, two of my articles sold for clients for one of the content writing companies that I submit articles to. I checked online and payment for one of my white papers will be coming in two weeks earlier than expected. I should be hearing from my editor on Monday with more high-paying assignments. My husband called today during his drive home to say that he will likely be getting a raise at work, and he may be considered for a promotion to one of the six team leaders in the summer—which means a second pay raise.
Right now—after a long day of doing Spring cleaning (yes, I started early this year)—I’m resting in the sweet spot, thankful for God’s blessings.
“Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but to Your name give glory, because of Your mercy, because of Your truth.” – Psalm 115:1 (NKJV)
It’s good to give God glory when things are good, when things are bad, and when things are in between. Today, I’m giving God glory for providing for our needs according to His riches in glory (Phil. 4:19). I’m giving God the glory for the favor my husband has with his boss. I praise God for His peace in our lives and for giving us a comfortable place to live.
We don’t have everything we want in life. We don’t have all the answered prayers for things I know in my heart that God has promised us. Yet, we always have had our needs provided for. There is a HUGE difference between a need and a want.
Are you resting in the sweet spot, in a desert experience, or on your way up to a mountaintop of peace and rest?
