Life Balance: 4 Things that are Good for Your Soul

Increase Love, Forgiveness, Grace, and Learning in Your Life

by J.M. Troppello

You are a spirit, you have a soul, and you live in a body.

Your spirit connects you to God.

Your soul is a combination of your heart, mind, and will.

It’s important to feed all of you. That means your spirit and soul need to ‘eat’ just like you feed your body. This article will focus more on being good to your soul. There are four things that are good for your soul.

These things can help you stay on a path that edifies others and helps you to strive to be positive and productive—rather than stagnated in negativity.

When you increase love, forgiveness, grace, and learning in your life each day, you give yourself the opportunity to give good things to others like hope, kindness, and compassion.

Focusing on love, forgiveness, grace, and learning can enhance your mindset. These four things will help you to become a better human.

Isn’t that a goal everyone should strive for?

I’d like to think that everyone would want to cultivate these four things in life. But I know that’s not always the case. However, if more people nurture these things in their lives and in the lives of others, positive change in this world is possible.

1. Love

“Love is the beauty of the soul.” – Saint Augustine

It’s so important to love yourself. Be filled with self-love and self-confidence. Then you can love other people. Having positive and productive relationships in your life can fill your love tank. Love can help you to overcome barriers in life and to enhance the way you connect with others.

2. Forgiveness

“Beauty attracts heart, but character attracts soul.” – Sindhu Vishnu

Forgiving yourself and forgiving others is vital for self-growth. If you want to continue to grow as an individual, it’s crucial to let go of bitterness. Become a better person. Don’t allow resentment to fester in your life.

3. Grace

“A pure heart is superlatively rare and even more attractive.” – J.S.B. Morse

Cultivating grace in your life is another crucial factor in being good to your soul. Don’t allow people to walk all over you. But also show grace. Be open to giving second chances, if the person is coming to you with genuine intentions. You’ll need to offer grace to yourself as well when you mess up and need to try again.

4. Learning

“Don’t gain the world and lose your soul; wisdom is better than silver and gold.” – Bob Marley

Learn about yourself and others. True personal growth happens when you’re open to learning. Educate yourself on areas that can help your personal development journey like learning about different personalities and various love languages. This can help you to interact in a more mature manner with other people.

Take Care of Your Soul

You can be good to your soul by cultivating a clean place for love, forgiveness, grace, and learning to grow. Don’t allow negativity to rule your life. Embrace each moment. Focus on loving others in a better way. Choose forgiveness over hate. Give grace—even to those that you think don’t deserve it. Decide to learn something new each day.
