Night Quiet
Fading light
by Joanne Troppello
Hands held forward groping in the dark,
looking for the familiar wall
she moves silently down the hallway.
Night quiet has settled over the house,
lending peace to her spirit
such calm the night air it gave to her.
Passing by the light switch,
her soul wanted the dark shroud instead,
she felt led to light a candle.
The night grew deeper still,
but yet she sat an angel of
the night, mesmerized by
a fading wax stick.
