The Lion and the Lamb
Rocking the temple
by Joanne Troppello
He rocked the temple with His mighty roar,
a deafening stillness covering overturned
tables and scattered coins.
Approaching the town gate of Nain,
a funeral, His heart did not hide His
compassion but He healed the widow’s son.
He shook the status quo with His righteous cry,
“You hypocrites.” Behold the teachers of the
law in their self-righteous glory.
Hanging on a dogwood cross He bled for
all mankind, the unblemished sacrifice,
atonement for sin.
The Lion of Judah sits upon His heavenly throne,
a lamb in resplendent glory.
