5 Fun Date Ideas for This Fall

Open Your Heart to the Beauty of This Season

by J.M. Troppello

“Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.” – Albert Camus

My favorite season is Spring but Fall comes in a very close second. I do love fall a lot. It’s just a mental thing because once Fall arrives, I know winter is close on her heels! That means snow and cold—and I’m not a fan!

If you’ve been looking for some fun date ideas for this fall, consider the following ideas. These ideas are versatile, so if you’re not looking for a date idea but want a family or group friend activity—these ideas are perfect for you too.

1. Apple or Pumpkin Picking

I’ve been apple and pumpkin picking several times. Every time has been fun. One great benefit—aside from the brisk fresh air and spending time with others—is that you get delicious apples or pumpkins.

2. Cozy Dinner and Movie at Home

If you want to hang out for a long day, go apple picking or pumpkin picking first. Then head back home and make caramel apples or apple pie together. If you picked pumpkins, make pumpkin pie. Then carve faces into the pumpkins to leave out on the front porch or door. Baking or cooking together can be a fun way to hang out and create something.

3. Corn Maze and Hayride

Going to a corn maze is fun. I wouldn’t want to try to figure my way out on my own. But I have gone before with a family group and also a friend group. Both times we had so much fun. Going with your significant other can give you the opportunity to work together while having fun. Go for a hayride afterward. Many farms that have corn mazes have hayrides as well. It’s the perfect opportunity to snuggle close together after working on getting out of the corn maze.

4. Take a Hike or Have a Picnic

Getting out in the cool fall air and taking a hike can be a nice time for your next date. Surprise your significant other by bringing along a picnic basket lunch or early dinner—since you don’t want to be out in the woods after dark. Check out the following article if you need ideas on easy picnic meals.

5. Fall Festival or Renaissance Faire

I love fall festivals. They’re such a fun way to get out and enjoy what your local community has to offer. Many times, local vendors will have booths where you can get snacks or things like hot cider or hot chocolate. I’ve been to a local Renaissance Faire three times. I’ve loved it each time! My favorite part was hanging out with my hubby and friends—and going to the wine tasting area!

“Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.” – George Eliot

Whatever you do this fall, I hope you can have a heart that is open to drink in the beauty of this season.
