How to Make Money with Swagbucks

I earned My First $10 through PayPal with this App

by J.M. Troppello

I signed up for Swagbucks a year ago, but then got busy with work and never really did anything with it. Due to inflation, our weekly grocery bill has increased by about $25-35 per week. Our budget was already tight, so this increase has been very unwelcome. I needed to make some extra cash, so I started checking out various survey and gaming apps to identify ones that were legit.

I read a bunch of articles about people’s experiences with this app. I decided to give it a try. I made my first $10 with this app and received it in a few days to my PayPal account. I’ve tried 10 other apps in the last two weeks and made $120. Now, I know that’s not going to make me rich. However, it definitely helped with the grocery budget for this week.

How to Earn Extra Cash Through Swagbucks

It’s easy to make money through Swagbucks. It took me 1.5 weeks to earn my first $10. However, I think that was because I was new to the app and still needed to learn to navigate it and understand all the ways to earn.

1. Answer Surveys and Earn

A big way to begin earning is to answer surveys and earn money. Some surveys are short and take 5-10 minutes. However, some of the shorter 5 minute-ones take a longer review period before the SB points show up in your account. For most of the other surveys, you will earn the SB points right after completing the survey. I would like to note, that sometimes you will start a survey and then be kicked out of the survey for not qualifying for it. That didn’t happen too much to me. But, when it did happen, I usually still earned 1-3 SB points for trying the survey. There are a variety of surveys and times (like 5-25 minutes) that you can take.

2. Play Swagbucks Live and Win SB

I have enjoyed participating in the Swagbucks Live trivia game which occurs weekly, Monday – Thursday at 8 pm ET and usually lasts for about 15 minutes. On Fridays, the game is not in the evening but occurs in the afternoon. I’m still getting used to this app, but I think I saw a notification that they even had a Swagbucks Live game at 11 am during the week on a Monday.

The game usually has a grand prize of $1,000 – $2,500. This prize is paid out in SB points. The grand prize is divided among the winners. If you get an answer wrong, you can rejoin if you have any free rejoins. You can watch videos or invite friends to get more free rejoins.

There are always 10 questions. They usually promote a product after question 9. If you move beyond question one, you can start earning SB points. I’ve played about 14 games. I won a few. However, even for the ones I didn’t win, I stayed on the app until the game was over so that I could claim the free SB points that I’d earned for the answers I’d gotten right. If you win the game, you will receive your points automatically and don’t need to claim them.

3. Redeem Magic Receipts

I haven’t tried this earning option yet. However, I want to try it soon. You can turn any receipt into earnings. For in-store receipts, you should read the fine print first. Then add that deal to your list on the Swagbucks app or their website. Then, submit the receipt before the expiration date.

For online receipts, you should start the submission process – but make sure your email is forwarded from your Swagbucks account. Some of the featured stores include Walmart, Target, CVS, and 7-Eleven.

One example of how to earn is with the Kinder JOY chocolate egg. For this offer (likely time-limited), you can buy one chocolate egg and earn 50 SB points or buy two on the same receipt and earn 200 SB points. They have limits that this can only be completed no more than twice in one day.

4. Complete Offers and Shop and Earn

You can shop and earn through completing offers through shopping at new stores, shopping online, ordering prescriptions, earning through travel, and earning through dining deals. You can even earn SB points through buying gift cards. For example, one of the offers (at the time this article was written) is that you can shop for chicken from Perdue Farms, and you’ll receive 3% cash back, and earn 3 SB points per every $1 spent.

5. Earn Through Referrals

Some of the survey and game apps that I’ve tried offer you a referral fee when someone you refer through a referral link signs up for a free account. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see the referral benefits from Swagbucks. If someone signs up for Swagbucks through your referral link, you will earn 300 SB Bonus points when this referral earns their first 300 SB within their first 30 days.

I thought that was great because you only need 1,000 points to cash out and get a $10 PayPal gift card or cash transferred to your PayPal account. Getting 300 points for one referral adds a big chunk of points toward your 1K goal for that cash out threshold.

Additionally, you will receive 10% Lifetime Earnings of SB points from this referral for the life of their account. That is a very nice bonus of passive income. A new bonus that Swagbucks offers is that you’ll receive 100 SB points if a referral adds the SwagButton to their laptop or desktop (through an extension on Chrome etc.)

I have found Swagbucks to be legitimate and a fun way to make some extra cash. I recommend it if you are interested in trying to make some extra cash.
