Seeking God’s Healing Rain

Sowing Righteousness and Reaping Mercy

by Joanne Troppello

“Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground, For it is time to seek the Lord, Till He comes and rains righteousness on you.” – Hosea 10:12 (NKJV)

I’m not a fan of the rain; especially if I need to go outside when it’s raining. I wear glasses and hate getting rain drops on them. It’s a small annoyance, but an annoyance, nonetheless.

I know rain is essential. We need rain. Without rain, we’d have drought. Plants need water to grow and a good portion of the water they receive comes from rain. Aquifers get filled when it rains. The oceans receive nutrients when it rains.

God’s Healing Rain

“Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk. Without money and without price. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance. Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you—The sure mercies of David.” – Isaiah 55:1-3 (NKJV)

I have always loved this passage of scripture from Isaiah 55. It’s a beautiful invitation to come to the Lord, who will satisfy our spiritual hunger and thirst. The questions, why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy, resonate with me—especially these days.

I want to focus on what really matters, what truly can satisfy my spiritual needs.

“Healing rain is a real touch from God. It could be physical healing or emotional or whatever.” – Michael W. Smith

I love music by Michael W. Smith. His songs are very powerful. The following is a video of his song, Healing Rain from his Awaken album from 2009.

I have been praying for God’s healing rain to fall on me, my family, and everyone in the world. I believe revival is on the way. We need to humble ourselves, and pray and seek God’s face, and turn from our wicked ways, then God will hear from Heaven, and will forgive our sin and heal our land (II Chronicles 7:14, NKJV)

Have you experienced God’s healing rain?
