Has Jesus Turned Your World Upside Down—in a Good Way?

He’s Changed My Life Now and My Forever is Secure in Him

by J.M. Troppello

“In Jesus we belong to God. Jesus makes the difference in everything, in us and in what we touch and know. He is like a secret the world does not understand.” – Dale Brand

As a Christian, you have a something special in your life – salvation and sanctification through Jesus – that the world cannot relate to. Yet, even though they can’t comprehend who Jesus is and what He wants to do in their lives, you should still be living a life that draws them to God.

10 When he was alone, the Twelve and the others around him asked him about the parables. 11 He told them, “The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables 12 so that,

“‘they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!’[a]”

(Mark 4:10-12, NKJV)

Jesus told his disciples the purpose of the parables in Mark 4:10-12. He shared that the secret of the Kingdom of God was given to them. The world did not understand these things. Jesus spoke these parables as a way to grab the attention of the listener’s and draw them in to the story—then hopefully, they might understand the message. Parables are easy to remember. When someone is spiritually ready, they can receive the truth of the parable. The last reason Jesus spoke in parables was to conceal the truth from those who oppose His message. [Source: TNSB]

Living a Life Turned Upside Down by Jesus

Usually when you see the term upside down that brings forth negative connotations. However, I’m using it here in a positive way. Jesus lives in my heart. He’s turned my life upside down in a positive way:

  • I see things in a new light as they relate to God’s Kingdom.

  • He’s teaching me to live for Him and not for my own desires.

  • I’m learning how to love others, even those I don’t get along with.

  • He’s opening my heart to a new sense of simplification and gratitude.

  • I know that I have a purpose to share His love to those around me.

  • I’ve embraced the beauty of communion with God through the Holy Spirit.

As a Christian, you are established in Christ through the Gospel. That mystery was hidden long ago. However, God’s complete plan of salvation has been revealed through Jesus’ death, resurrection, and ascension to Heaven at the right hand of the Father.

25 Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, 26 but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all the Gentiles might come to the obedience that comes from[a] faith— 27 to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen. (Romans 16:25-27, NKJV)

There are many in this world who still don’t understand this mystery. They haven’t experienced the power of God at work in their lives. They don’t know the comfort and communion of the father through the manifestation of the Holy Spirit at work in them.

That’s where the believer comes into the picture. I’ve shared before that I haven’t always been bold about sharing my faith. However, in recent years, God has been working on me in that area. I’m focused on growing in the Lord and staying open to the opportunities that the Holy Spirit opens for me to share my faith with those who don’t yet comprehend the mystery of the Gospel.
