The Soul Spot: She Works Just Fine Broken
by Samantha Davis
She works just fine broken.
The feeling is
overwhelming.
Life seems almost
debilitating.
Summoning strength to move
appears more wish filled
and less perspicuous.
Yet, the sun rises,
I start on a new.
“Today will be different”
I affirm with a tone of despair.
As I sift through the wreckage
I notice more pieces than before.
When did things get this bad?
Maybe they always were.
The ship is now patched.
I made sure of it—
not one spot missed.
She’s ready to sail
a little shaky,
but floating.
Withstanding the force
of mother nature isn’t concerning.
After all, the repair
was an endeavor.
‘Stronger’ than before,
I brave out on to the water.
The waves are treacherous.
She can’t be damaged by
the sea, fore it means
the end.
No one ever thought
to reveal the importance
of life boats.
The make shift life
-jacket has holes.
Many believe she’s not sea worthy.
Could what they exclaim be true?
Words crash in like waves,
causing havoc. Internal
chaos erupts. What was
already difficult seemed
impossible. Could she do it?
But she makes it back to port,
docks for the day.
She works just fine broken—
The reminder needed to
start another day.
