Do You Need Strength, Peace, Wisdom, and Direction?
Go to God in Prayer and He will Give His Provision
by Veritas Vita 777
God is my strength. He gives His peace. I trust in His wisdom and direction. Charles Swindoll said, “Do you need strength? Peace? Wisdom? Direction? Ask for it! God will hear you.” I agree with Swindoll’s words that you should ask God for those things, and He will hear you.
I know in my own life that God has been faithful. He provides strength when I am weak (2 Cor. 12:9). He gives His peace that passes all understanding (Phil 4:6). When I need wisdom, He provides (James 1:5). In those times when I need His direction, He guides me (Psalm 37:23-24).
Yet, in the times when you lack strength, peace, wisdom, and direction, it can be so easy to succumb to depression. Don’t give in to your flesh and allow depression to take root. I can speak from experience in this regard. I have succumbed to that depression before.
However, if I just turned my eyes from the pressures of life and opened my heart to deeper communion with God, He would graciously help me through the muck and mire into greener pastures spiritually.
I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry. 2 He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps. 3 He has put a new song in my mouth— Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the Lord. (Psalm 40:1-3, NKJV)
I love this passage from Psalm 40:1-3. David wrote this Psalm. Notice how he begins this Psalm with the words I waited patiently for the Lord. I’ve waited patiently for the Lord in regard to many things in life. Yet, other times, I haven’t waited so patiently. I love the hope in that first verse when David said that God inclined to him and heard his cry.
Notice he said cry and not prayer. It’s okay to cry out to God. It’s good to open your heart and share the deepest recesses of your heart with the Father. He wants that for you so that you can have a deeper relationship with Him.
David said that God brought him out of the horrible pit and miry clay. God set David’s feet upon a rock. God established his steps. That is a beautiful message for me even as I write this article. It resonates so deeply within my spirit.
God put a new song in David’s mouth. He said that many people will see the work that God did in his life and fear – and trust in the Lord. That’s another beautiful thought. God will make something beautiful from the ashes of your life (See: Isaiah 61:3).
Do you need strength, peace, wisdom, and direction? Turn to God in prayer and He will provide.
