Have You Been Trusting God for His Perfect Timing?

God is Never Late, He’s Never Early, and He’s Always on Time

by Veritas Vita 777

Are you able to trust in God’s perfect timing for your life? Author and Senior Pastor of Houston’s First Baptist Church said, “Man’s perfect timing highlights the craftiness of man. God’s perfect timing highlights the provision of God.” That truly resonated with me when I read the quote today. Have I been trying to be crafty and push things along in my life? Was I following God’s will? Have I been resting in His perfect timing for my life?

I’m so thankful that God is never early, He’s never late, and He’s always on time.

14 But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord; I say, “You are my God.” 15 My times are in Your hand; Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, And from those who persecute me. 16 Make Your face shine upon Your servant; Save me for Your mercies’ sake. 17 Do not let me be ashamed, O Lord, for I have called upon You; Let the wicked be ashamed; Let them be silent in the grave. 18 Let the lying lips be put to silence, Which speak insolent things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.
19 Oh, how great is Your goodness, Which You have laid up for those who fear You, Which You have prepared for those who trust in You In the presence of the sons of men! 20 You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence From the plots of man; You shall keep them secretly in a [a]pavilion From the strife of tongues.
(Psalm 31:14-20, NKJV)

Psalm 31 was written by King David. His declaration in verse 14 is strong. But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord; I say, “You are my God.” Wow! Can you declare that statement as strongly as David did? Can I? I definitely haven’t declared those words over my life each day. Yet, just imagine if you and I truly believed that God was in control and confessed these words daily.

The first six words in verse 15 continue to make me think. My times are in Your hand. David declared that God was in control. He knew that his times were in God’s hands. “David expresses a complete dependence on God—his life is in God’s hands to do with as He pleases. These words were spoken by Jesus on the cross shortly before His death (See: Luke 23:46) and by Stephen before his death (See: Acts 7:59).” [Source: TNSB]

Do you have complete dependence on God? That’s a question I am asking myself today as well. Generally speaking, I do. However, I still need to work on daily laying my own will aside and trusting God for His perfect will in my life.

It’s scary for me – sometimes – to think about ‘allowing’ God to do what He pleases with my life. What if He asked me to give up my desire to write? Maybe He wants me to do something different with my life? I definitely have a lot to think and pray about today and in the next few weeks.

Have you let go of your own will for your life and surrendered it to God’s will for you?
