Is Trusting God Related to Your Prayer Life?
Focus on God and He Will Keep You in His Perfect Peace

“Trust perfected is prayer perfected.” – E.M. Bounds
I read this short statement today from E.M. Bounds, American author, attorney, and Methodist clergyman. It made me think about the relationship between my trust in the Lord and my prayer life. Was there a relationship between the two?
In my life, I have found that there is a relationship between my level of trust in God and how much time I spend in prayer. Of course, a high percentage of my level of trust in God is also due to the amount of time I spend in reading, studying, and applying the Bible truths to my life. So, I would say that my level of trust in God is related to how much time I spend in God’s Word AND in how much time I spend praying to Him – and walking in communication with Him throughout the day.
I have found in my walk with the Lord that when I don’t do those two things, I am at a disadvantage in my level of faith. I start to value my feelings more than my faith. I begin to see my problems as bigger than my God.
Yet, when I am diligent in my study of God’s Word and in spending time with Him, I connect on a deeper level with my spirit and with God. I see that He is in control. I don’t have to live in anxiety and fear. I can spiritually see more clearly. I have that peace that passes all understanding at work in my life.
7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:7, NKJV)
God’s peace is beautiful. It’s such a blessing in my life. It’s helped me walk through many fires through the years. Those words from Philippians are so true. God’s peace guards your heart and mind through Christ Jesus. You don’t obtain that true peace on your own. You find it when you trust in God.
3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. 4 Trust in the Lord forever, For in Yah, the Lord, is [a]everlasting strength.
(Isaiah 26:3-4, NKJV)
God will keep you in that perfect peace. But you need to keep your mind stayed on Him. Stop worrying about your problems. I know, that’s very difficult many times. Yet, when my mind was stayed on God, I did have that sweet, perfect peace.
God will be your everlasting strength. You don’t have to do this life on your own. As a Christian, you should be working on cultivating your walk with God. One wonderful benefit of building a deeper relationship with the Lord is that you will experience His powerful peace that will envelop your body, soul, and spirit like a warm and comforting hug.
If you are experiencing stress and anxiety today, I urge you to take time alone to read over these Scriptures shared here. Spend time in prayer. Seek to focus your mind on God and He will keep you in perfect peace.
How would you rate your prayer life on a scale of 1-10?
